Chris Rose's ignorant and condescending interview with Reno Mero in the Saturday October 23, 1999 edition of the Times Picayune (a local New Orleans newspaper).
Q-Is Jesse Ventura crazy?
RENA: I don't personally know him so I'm not qualified to answer that.
Q-Do you have political ambitions of your own?
RENA: Absolutely not.
Q-What's your job duty for Endfest?
RENA: Meet my fans.
Q-What's the difference between you and Pamela Anderson?
RENA: I'm not sure. I don't know her either. You probably want someone else to answer that question.
Q-What's the biggest misconception about you?
RENA: That I am the character that I portay on TV.
Q-What's your biggest turn-on?
RENA: Confidence.
Q-Turn-off?
RENA: Rudeness
Q-Are there men who really buy Playboy for the articles?
RENA: I'm not a man; I don't know.
Q-How do your daughter's friend's parents regard you?
RENA: I believe they have a lot of respect for the decisions I've made and they see me as a normal mother.
Q-Why don't you let your daughter watch wrestling on TV?
RENA: I believe she is too young (11) and I don't believe it is family entertainment. It
doesn't instill the qualities I want to promote.
Q-I have a little girl myself; what career advice would you offer her?
RENA: Always believe in yourself. Never let anyone else's opinion determine what to do with your life.
Q-What's the most influential book you've ever read?
RENA: The Bible.
Q-Any thoughts on the nuclear test ban treaty?
RENA: I think the condition of the world is deplorable; some countries have too much power and not enough common sense.
MY STATEMENT:
I THINK CHRIS ROSE TREATED RENA VERY DISRESPECTFULLY. DESPITE HIS CONDESCENDING AND INSULTING QUESTIONS, RENA MAINTAINED HER COMPOSURE FIELDING THEM WITH DIGNITY AS SHE REFUSED TO COMMENT ON PEOPLE SHE DID NOT KNOW: PAMELA ANDERSON AND JESSE VENTURA. IN A SIMILAR SITUATION MANY OTHER STARS MAY HAVE USED THIS OPPORTUNITY TO EITHER DEGRADE THE OTHER PERSONALITIES OR BOAST ABOUT HERSELF IN COMPARISON. ALSO, SHE COULD'VE REPREMANDED HIM FOR HIS RUDENESS. BUT, SHE DID NOT. I HAVE TO GIVE HER CREDIT FOR THAT.
